Thank you Anna Demming The Guardian for raising awareness of the prevalence & impact of #PerinatalMentalHealth problems, but mostly for highlighting how treatable these conditions are. Great to see the work of Action on Postpartum Psychosis MBRRACE UK and Trudi Seneviratne š & others credited. #MakeAllCareCount

Nicola Vousden - FPH Women's Health SIG

The report demonstrates that parent engagement improves the quality of reviews. Starting in January 2024, the PMRT collaboration will offer online training for review teams to improve parent engagement. TIMMS NPEU-Oxford MBRRACE UK
The PMRT report highlights that multi-disciplinary group reviews are essential and that PMRT review teams must be adequately resourced with administrative support and an independent external panel member. TIMMS NPEU-Oxford MBRRACE UK
Over 19 out of 20 reviews identified areas for improvement. 4 in 20 reviews identified at least one issue with care that may have made a difference to the outcome for the baby. TIMMS NPEU-Oxford MBRRACE UK
The PMRT report has also highlighted some of the comments, questions, and concerns raised by parents during the review process. TIMMS NPEU-Oxford MBRRACE UK
Most parents had a follow-up meeting with their consultant to review their care, but not all had a personalised letter summarising what they talked about. Asian and Black parents were less likely to receive a letter than White parents. TIMMS NPEU-Oxford MBRRACE UK
Blood tests to check for gestational diabetes were not offered to 1 in 5 Asian women and 1 in 3 Black women. Almost all White women who should have been tested were offered a test. TIMMS NPEU-Oxford MBRRACE UK
