When discussing mental health we often speak as if it occurs in a vacuum. While the contributing factors are complex, public space may be one of the most important and ignored.

In Bogotá, a city of 8-mil., these restorative and social spaces are vital to better mental wellbeing.

The contrast of noise and stress from Bogotá’s traffic and its abundant street art full of colour is stark. Diverse and creative as it’s residents it would take years to capture all of it in photos.

As a collection it creates a magnificent open air museum for all its residents.

With an avg travel time of 95+ minutes for low income residents Bogotá is investing in more efficient transport options.

The first #TransMiCable cable car connects residents of informal communities to employment opportunities improving their social mobility. #MovilidadSostenible

Fitting an average of 8 people and a travel time between stations of approximately 2.5 minutes, the cable cars provide a much faster option to an often-overlooked segment of the population.

Bogotá’s Carrera 7 (Séptima) was transformed due to COVID with pedestrianization in the centre and a bi-directional cycle track that continues north.

With more “Green Corridor” transformation to come it exemplifies the power of human scale design to bring life to our streets.

Calle 139 Av Cali shows what can be possible when people cycling are giving the space.

It doesn’t matter where in the world this is done - when people are afforded the dignity of a safe place to cycling their transport experience is transformed! #MovilidadSostenible

Cycling is not elitist. It an equalizer that can provide the greatest access to all.

As Bogotá’s first female Mayor Claudia López Hernández committed to improving the lives of women.

The #manzanadelcuidado (Care Blocks) aim to help the 700,000 women living in poverty, providing services, care for dependents, and space for rest, learning, connection to empower #Bogotánas .

Launched in September 2022 the Tembici Colombia bike share system in Bogotá has been hugely successful.

The scheme includes 1500 standard cycles, 1500 e-cycles, 150 hand-cycles, and 150 cargo bikes and already boasts over 25,000 users and more than 96,000 journeys!
