Bulldozers have begun clearing high-quality savanna woodland at Darwin's Lee Point, tragically erasing biodiversity and cultural values. Approval of this project highlights how broken our national environmental laws are.

Shocking footage shows several officers at Washington University St. Louis beating a professor, slamming him, and dragging his limp body.
SIUE history professor Steve Tamari is reportedly hospitalized with broken ribs and a broken hand.

Our federal environmental laws are broken.

This morning bulldozers arrived at Lee Point after the Enviro Minister decided to allow destruction of habitat vital to endangered species like the Gouldian Finch.

Labor promised to fix these laws, but have delayed reform indefinitely.

Palestinian students at Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany received an email from the school that they’ve been recategorized as “stateless” due to governmental “changes in the statistical requirements.”

Germany no longer recognizes Palestinian as a nationality.

Just a reminder that Germany kicked off the Holocaust by rendering all Jewish Germans stateless. They had no passports and no travel papers, so they were either trapped in place or had to rely on illegal ways to escape the mass murder.

When Germany renders people stateless --…

Was there yesterday arvo and saw 45 species of birds in an hour…
These are 8 species of finch that live here alone! 🐤
The dozers are in and ready to destroy everyone’s favourite birding spot in Darwin and our LAST local woodlands. 🌳🚜
Shame Tanya Plibersek 😡

The state defending the state.

Up to 100 police at Lee Point, where an Australian Government housing development will see savanna woodland bulldozed. Larrakia elders are being denied access to their Country on site.

The bulldozers destroying habitat for endangered Gouldian Finches, black-footed tree rats and over 270 bird species at Binybara/Lee Point.

This is a place beloved by thousands of people across Darwin. Its loss is a failure of our environment laws, and deeply upsetting.

For everyone following Lee Point, the bulldozers have arrived on site this morning.

Over 270 bird species, including the endangered Gouldian Finch, live here. This is a monumental failure of our environmental laws.

It is worth watching this CNN video from the moment Emory Econ Professor Caroline Fohlin came across the violent arrest of a protester on campus and asked the police, with shock, 'What are you doing?' That's all that prompted an officer to hurl her to the ground and handcuff her.

Under new legislation, the govt is proposing a 3 year moratorium on civil greenwashing litigation against Australia's biggest companies. So big business will be protected from consumers, but consumers have no protection against misleading claims by big business. 😑
