The windfall tax is killing future investment. Our largest oil producer, Harbour Energy, has rejected new North Sea oil and gas licences and TotalEnergies, a large French oil company, has also turned down the offer because of the tax. So much for independent UK energy supplies.

One measure I would like to see in the Budget: the NHS is currently free to anyone who arrives in UK. Many travel here to get free treatment. Charge for NHS care for all visitors and illegals. We may find the workload of a National health service is much less than a World service

The EU pledged in May €9bn in emergency aid to Ukraine. To date only €3bn has been sent. As Ukraine struggles to provide basic services the EU pontificates. Meanwhile, Hungary stands ready to block the EU taking out credit to provide Ukraine aid. EU unity on display once more.
