I need to acknowledge our director of grad studies Gregory Samanez-Larkin for treating all students—current, past, accepted, & rejected—with the kindness that academia can so sadly lack. He’s going viral on Reddit for his thoughtful rejection letters, & I hope other programs follow suit.
The offer of a lifeboat to Bluesky is perpetually open at Mineral Cup #MinCup. We have a stockpile of donated invite codes to keep shuffling people who enjoy playful science to somewhere with a different vibe.
Bluesky is much smaller and has its own glitches, but if you’re trying to mitigate, we’re using the Mineral Cup #MinCup account for code distribution.
