Well, we made it. Just finished a tremendous semester working through readings in the Civil War era with my umhistory graduate students—complete with great readings from Kellie Carter Jackson, W. W. S. Hsieh - Sometimes Satirical!, Stephanie McCurry, Amy Murrell Taylor, Andy Lang, Heather Cox Richardson (TDPR), and more.
John Gibney of Documents on Irish Foreign Policy was involved in curating the exhibition with National Archives, Ireland. The archive collection shines a light on issues, such as State control over Irish social life, misogyny, strict Catholicism, immigration, emigration and growing infrastructure.
What an amazing way to wrap up the semester...with a review of THE 272 in the New York Review of Books! Written by Tiya Miles! I am over the moon! nybooks.com/articles/2024/…
🎙️Speaking to Prof Jane Ohlmeyer at the Trinity Long Room Hub Annual Humanities Horizons Lecture, Lonnie G. Bunch III addressed the impact the Smithsonian Institution has had on a national and global level, and why museums are needed more than ever.🖼️
