One was that United would finish 6th or worse. United ARE bad.

The other was that Chelsea would be better than everyone's pre-season projections/actually good.

People underestimate how hard it is to add European comps to your calendar, cut the training sessions and add extra games at higher intensity.

You get to a certain level where the only teams who are clearly above you are City & Real Madrid, and beating them requires basically everything to go perfectly. Liverpool got basically everything right and won two big trophies in 9 years under Klopp. The level is absurd.
