10 years ago today, I was working a weekend shift The Seattle Times when word came in of a landslide near a small town named Oso.

It turned out to be the deadliest landslide in U.S. history.

It also became an exhibit for why local journalism matters in a time of crisis.

An infuriating story, the first in a series examining the staggering number of child sex crimes perpetrated by members of a profession that many kids are taught to revere: law enforcement.

🚨 The Washington Post Guild has reached a tentative agreement with The Washington Post after 18 months of contract negotiations.

This deal is the best contract Washington Post employees have seen in 50 years.

Hi from Cairo, a great place to stand with my fellow Guild members. During the building of a necropolis under Ramses III, workers in Ancient Egypt staged one of the first recorded strikes in history.
We appreciate your solidarity with our picket line today. See ya in 24 hrs!

We’ll be striking ‘till midnight! In the cold! So how can you support us? Write a letter to our publisher demanding that The Post come back to the bargaining table and give workers a fair deal: Bit.ly/postguildsuppo…

We appreciate you!

People in Myanmar are writing furiously about what’s happening in the country — and with good reason.

The war is changing dramatically. Those at the forefront: Ethnic rebels who’ve spent generations waiting for this moment.
