. UK Covid-19 Inquiry & Irish Congress (ICTU) Gerry Murphy says in those initial stages no one formally reached out to them to advise or to seek guidance &that they weren’t involved in planning. He said they were informed as decisions played out. The voice of the worker “wasn’t fed in”.

. @copni said there was a feeling hospitals were “cleared” of older people to make ready for patients. He said guidance for care homes was too late. A nice touch from Chair Baroness Hallett at the end when she told Eddie Lynch to “keep banging the drum.”

. UK Covid-19 Inquiry the COPNI has told the inquiry that it was “reckless” to discharge older people from hospital into care homes without testing at start of the pandemic. He said a meeting with DOH on March 16 officials were unable to address many issues regarding care homes.

Correction: according to counsel to the inquiry it was the deputy FM who in a NI situation report on 3 April 2020 had “criticised the health minister’s handling of the outbreak.
