Not sure I’ve ever seen such a gripping documentary. The desensitisng brutality of war seen through incredible footage, shot by the soldiers themselves.
Careful, mind. It’s extraordinarily graphic.

Annual reminder that Neil Paterson, Dundee United’s last amateur captain, won the 1959 Adapted Screenplay Oscar for Room At The Top over Ben-Hur and Some Like It Hot. He stayed in Scotland, was told in a dawn phone call and didn’t mention it to his family at breakfast

This is such a tragedy. Nick was the best of us. Better than anyone at everything. A brilliant presenter, reporter, cameraman, author, singer, pianist and so much more.
And all of that without an ounce of arrogance. Warm, witty, clever and kind. Loved by everyone who met him.

The Sunday Show’s on the telly a bit later this morning. We’re on BBC1 (and Radio Scotland and BBCSounds) at 11am, when my guest is Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar. Join us then.
