Cat Brooks CM Fife has been fighting to get the City to implement the resolution that she sponsored - which passed by unanimous Council vote not once but TWICE - to utilize the Oakland Army Base to provide temporary shelter with wraparound services: sfchronicle.com/eastbay/articl…

Cat Brooks CM Fife has consistently been requesting to be in the meetings so that she can be informed of what’s going on in the encampments that the City is managing.

Cat Brooks It is illegal for City Councilmembers to direct City staff; but the Encampment Management Team has actually obstructed the D3 Council office from having any role in the process at all.

Cat Brooks CM Fife has not been allowed to even sit in on encampment management team meetings - the Schaaf administration decided that it was a charter violation for Councilmembers to be in those meetings after Carroll was elected. (!)

Cat Brooks Simmons’ role is to inform CMs of any issues happening inside of encampments & to carry out assignments from the Mayor & City Admin re: encampments.

The question is did LaTonda Simmons inform CM Fife and Mayor Thao about these conditions in the encampment?

If not, why not?
