The Circuit needs to be broken up into two, or even three (California should probably be its own circuit, it's big enough to be).

Look at the population size of the 1st, 8th, 10th, or 11th circuits compared to the Ninth. It's silly.

This also makes circuit splits less likely,

Chancellors: helpful pro bono hints -
1. set up a separate email address for church-related correspondence & check it regularly;
2. don't become the admin staff for the diocese/parish;
3. remember your duty to decline or transfer clients or cases beyond your ability to handle.

I don't want a Church that is changing in an attempt to be 'relevant' to modern minds.

I want a Church that is reverent and timeless and inspires modern men to greatness and virtue

The volume of Christian men under 40 who long for older and wiser mentors is staggering.

If you have years of life experience, love God and want to leave a lasting impact, look for young men in your orbit.

Take them out for lunch or just invite them to do something with your

The sacraments are more efficacious, mysterious, and miraculous than much of the modern church would like to admit. We have lost the wonder of these ordinary means of grace.

In 1977, Jorge Luis Borges, one of the most influential 20th c. Spanish-language writers, told William F. Buckley (whose first language was Spanish) his reasons for feeling, age 78, that English was 'far finer' than his native tongue. Right or wrong, I love his savor for language

For those of you familiar with the work of Fr. Martin Thornton, a query: to what is he referring when he writes 'the threefold Church,' e.g., 'the sacraments of the threefold Church'? Lots of options but not really sure. Fr Matthew C. Dallman, Obl.S.B. ?

“It would be a good contest among Christians, one to labor to give no offense, and the other to labor to take none. The best men are severe to themselves, tender over others.”

The most fascinating thing I have read recently, and not just because it involved a trial - the state of the publishing industry is bizarre.

Im ALWAYS bothered when people visit church & parishioners don’t try to connect w/ them after liturgy

Not everyone who visits wants to be invited over for dinner or to coffee (some do!)

At the VERY least, engaging them in a heartfelt conversation about life is a bare minimum
