A fascinating paradox: People rate AI responses to their emotional problems as more empathic than human responses, but not if they *know* the response comes from AI.

They feel most 'heard' by an AI they think is human, least by a human they think is AI.

Feel like others could benefit from self-driving cars, but you don't need one? You're not alone.

In Harvard Business Review, Stuti Agarwal, Julian De Freitas, and I unpack our research that shows how self-serving bias could slow the adoption of autonomous vehicles.

I am very excited to share my Job Market Paper! 🚨

The punchline: Complexity changes our choice processes; in complex decisions, decision-making becomes more procedural.

It's a sad day for behavioral science. I am grateful to Danny Kahneman for teaching me to use vision as a model of judgment. I admire his tenacity in the pursuit of knowledge. And I thank him for making possible my love, family, and life with Mina Cikara.

In some markets, products become riskier over time. Why do risk-averse consumers adopt these products and why do firms develop them? In our new Journal of Consumer Research paper with Michelle Barnhart we explain risk buildups through the production of collective ignorance. doi.org/10.1093/jcr/uc……A🧵

Large field experiment by @lamarpierce1 et al, assigning $66 million in bonus payments randomly to loss framing, suggests loss framing can be detrimental to sales efforts (and shows that such negative results should in fact be theoretically expected): buff.ly/3x2Ybf0
