Last night history was made: the 'Trends and Opportunities in AI' panel w/Prof Chelsea Finn, Namrata Anand (Diffuse Bio), Melissa Gordon (@Rasa_HQ) & Sandhya (@Unusual_VC) was the first all-women panel at Stanford University to discuss AI! Thanks Hannah Steinhardt for making it happen 👏
Turns out you could also build foundation models for biology. This is what Diffuse Bio has done to build a genAI for protein discovery. What's cool is Namrata Anand built this during the batch by hacking computation to need less with custom kernels
It’s a full crowd at Room 288-289 for MLSB @ NeurIPS for Namrata Anand and Tudor Achim’s talk on equivariant DDPM for structure generation
Super excited about all the possible applications for these new protein diffusion generative models from Namrata Anand nanand2.github.io/proteins/! The contrast between diffusion for 3D structures vs images is fascinating. Great to see this progress on the structural side.
Here's the recording of Namrata Anand's talk on diffusion models of proteins!

Diffusion generative models now applied to 3D protein structure in the IPA module of Alphafold2 by Namrata Anand :) 🔥 Interesting downstream applications and I'm really optimistic on these types of models to extend to real world tasks in structural bio
Excited to see Namrata Anand work on generative AI models for protein design featured in the New York Times. Lots more to come from her new company, Diffuse Bio! nytimes.com/2023/01/09/sci…
