This week for #FishFriday we are taking a look at the Smooth Grouper (Dermatolepis striolata).
These fish do not have many teeth on the edges of their jaws, but have heavy crushing tooth plates inside the pharynx so they swallow prey rather than biting pieces off it!

Tilefish keep to themselves and generally stay at or near the bottom. They rely heavily on their keen eyesight to catch their prey. If approached, they quickly dive into their constructed retreats, often head-first!
