English time! In news articles/ headlines writers must stop saying “anti-camping enforcement” or “homeless enforcement.” Enforcement of what? Say what it is. A city is removing people’s camps, enforcing a policy meant to do that. Spell it out. Being vague is not being unbiased.

When I was a kid, my dad gave me the talk: and by that I mean, he sat me down and told me the story of Prop 187. It’s hard to overstate how profoundly that law changed Latino life in California. Is the same about to happen in Texas?

Just a reminder that confronting and exposing misogyny is not hating men because hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women is not a requirement for being a man.

A little research reveals that humans slaughter and eat about 1.5 million cows per year in Colorado.

Why when wolves slaughter and eat two does it make news?

Hundreds of thousands of court hearings in California are being held without any precise record of what occurred - undercutting litigants' legal rights in high-stakes cases including domestic violence restraining orders and child custody disputes.

Code Switch has an excellent essay on the opinion piece about NPR making the rounds, noting it acts as if the existence of systemic racism is an open question, though NPR has reported on the extensive evidence which proves it absolutely exists. READ: loom.ly/SdKRJGc

It’s so frustrating when you feel like if you bring up masking as a courtesy at all, you’re the problem. We have so much access to understanding the virus’s impact on marginalized communities & yet most news teams now go to events unmasked. We need to be talking about this.

Phoebe Petrovic :( the fact that more journalists — especially those whose reporting is in service to/forged through collaboration with marginalized communities more vulnerable to the virus — aren't masking up at interviews/in general is so deeply demoralizing
