Ten years ago, I left Innovations for Poverty Action to start my PhD.
Today, I've returned.
I am excited to build IPA's new Data Science and Engineering function. We'll be starting from an amazing foundation of strong data quality, rigorous research, and evidence-based policy work!
I've been sharing earlier versions of this study for years. I'm happy to see it out in a great journal!

Read more about this recent work by Susan Athey Jann Spiess and Niall Keleher, who combined experiments and AI to compare targeting strategies for SMS reminders to potential FAFSA applicants.
A little late, but, as promised, this paper, by Avi Feller Eli Ben-Michael, & (the Twitterless) Erin Hartman deserves a 🧵 all of its own. Like Erin's other work in survey world, it's about embracing modern statistical tooling to replace existing practice

What if a wooden spoon could help AAPI’s?
I’m making 10 spoons to auction in support of Twitter's #StandForAsians allyship fund (3x match). Let’s raise an obnoxious amount of 💰.
ONLY 10 will be made. $250 ea. min. Top 10 DM donations get a spoon, auction ends in 1 week.
Looking forward to this year's COMPASS! Submit a paper or poster to this excellent, collaborative, and cross-domain conference. Submissions due April 7. #COMPASS21 #ICT4D #Tech4Good
