Please join me tomorrow, (July 27th from 9 AM - 12 PM, to help us block walk in the Eastside Austin area and reconnect with our AISD families.

We will start at Eastside Memorial High-school (900 Thompson St., Austin, TX, 78702) and begin our walk from there.

Thank you, Principal Alberto Alonso and community leaders, Dorothy Doolittle and Gloria Lugo for coming out today help spread the word of school registration, free vaccines from Austin Public Health, and free eye exams in our JHoustonElem neighborhood.

Our public school education system is a pillar of our society & we need to support it in every way that we can. Earlier today I joined Dove Springs community members for Operation Reconnect, a door-to-door neighborhood walk to engage & recruit families back to Austin ISD schools.

The way we treat dyslexia and disabilities in AISD is a social justice crisis. This was such a necessary and informative forum, and I’m grateful I was invited to participate.

Thank you to Coalition for Bilingual Education Equity Austin and AAABE for the opportunity to listen, learn, and propose solutions for strengthening dual language in AISD! It’s so important to treat access to bilingual ed like what it is: a social justice issue. I’m grateful to be part of the conversation.
