Here’s a goth Lepidodendron - a type of lycopod, similar to the Lepidodendron trunks you can find at Fossil Grove in Victoria Park, Glasgow. You can see this awesome 330 million year old fossilised forest in person at the next Open Day this Sunday (19th) from 12-4 🌱🖤

Today’s Geol Society Glasgow trip spent the morning on a tour of the NMS Collections Centre with the awesome Natural Sciences NMS team & saw loads of excellent rocks & fossils (incl. this belter of an agate from Brazil!). Then we spent the afternoon on the beach looking at more rocks (obv) 🖤

While everyone else was relaxing and taking in Dunnottar Castle’s romantic beauty and historic charm.. my pals were made to endure a 2 hour Katie lecture on the depositional controls and sediment sources of these majestic Lower Old Red Sandstone (Silurian-Devonian) conglomerates
