May 6th-12th, 2024 is Mental Health Awareness Week!

#DYK In the midst of farm responsibilities, it's easy to overlook mental health. That's why the #FarmersTalk Program offers confidential support tailored to the unique challenges faced by PEI farmers 🚜💬

With everything else producers have to manage, it can be hard for them to prioritize their mental health. Today, I announced over $1M for the Canadian Centre for Agricultural Wellbeing to help more farmers access the mental health support they need, with services and tools that are tailored to them.

Did you know that the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA/ACSA) has a program designed solely to help farmers with disabilities get back to farming, and that applications are open year round? casa-acsa.ca/en/grants/back…

Growing up on the family farm inspired Jessica Larsen to pursue an education at Dalhousie Agricultural Campus. Jessica was awarded the PEI, PEI Agromart & Island Lime Agriculture Leadership Scholarship for 2023.

Large farm machinery is back on the roads! If cars can't pass farm equipment safely, consider moving the equipment to a safe spot on the shoulder and stop to let traffic go around. Aside from these stops, farmers shouldn’t drive on the shoulder.
