The ED Platform for labour underscores the role of civil society organizations in ensuring safe labour migration inclusive of awareness raising, provision of legal aid and representation in advocacy for an enabling a appropriate legal framework for migrant workers.

Grace Mukwaya, Platform for labour: Government should look into countries and their Human Rights records. We should not be having bilateral agreements with them if they are not able to protect the externalized labour migrants.

The International Migrants Day seek to highlight the urgent need for safe migration governance rooted in solidarity, partnership and respect for Human rights as presented by the Chief of Mission IOM Mr. Sanusi Tejan Savage.

With funding from EU in Uganda & Bundesentwicklungsministerium, CUSP is supporting Platform for labour to implement a project, 'Enhancing the Protection of Domestic Workers in Uganda.'

Kaliro District officials also pledged to revamp and strengthen Child well being committees in the District.
