Really happy to have reviewed 'Believability', the incredible new book by sarah banet-weiser and Kat Higgins (aka Kathryn Claire) for International Journal of Communication. It's a vital and deeply original contribution to feminist media and cultural studies

Polity It’s unique: there are great educational materials on English grammar for schools (eg by ENGLICIOUS English grammar resources for teachers), and Geoff (with Rodney Huddleston & Distending the grammatical Overton window🏴‍☠️) has written a fine textbook for students, but this is eye-opening for general readers. This bit nicely sums up its approach.

Thanks, Polity, for sending me advance copy of this book by Geoff Pullum. I’ve often felt there’s an absence of a reliable introduction to English grammar for intelligent laypeople, assuming no prior knowledge. This is it. It’s brilliant, by a giant of modern linguistics.

What is it really like to be transgender?

For too long now, clouds of myth, misinformation, alarmism, and wrong-headed ideology have masked the reality of trans people’s lives.

Sophie Grace Chappell's new memoir blows away the clouds and gives us the truth instead.
