I feel like I'm losing my mind a little: people understand that 'occupying buildings on campus' is, like, one of the most common forms of studen protest for decades and not some devious new ploy devised by professional anarchist plotters, right?

The whole “it’s outside agitators who have co-opted the students so we must go in because who knows what we’ll find” president and police narrative was nonsense from the start.

You know what they found when they “went in”???

STUDENTS!

Surprise.

When I left campus at 7:30, it was completely peaceful and jovial. By the time I got home, two and a half hours later, it looks absolutely heartbreaking. The difference? The riot police arrived in the meantime.

“Perhaps if the administration spent less time trying to discredit protesters and more time engaging them, then we could stop wasting everyone’s time writing letters to clarify some basic facts: Students are not threats.”

All praise to Prof. Sami Schalk, who protected her students w her body. They ripped off her dress and hurt her so badly that she is now at the hospital. Dr. Schalk literally wrote the book on Black Disability Politics. Talk about putting your body on the line for your politics!
