This is one of Roald Dahl's Ideas Books, which he used to jot down ideas as they came to him. Here you can see writing about hiding pheasants in a baby's pram — an idea that would eventually become 'Danny the Champion of the World'.

Roald first wrote Mr Fox (as it was originally called) as a picture book for very young children. He created this sketch book with his own drawings to show how the story would look.
