It seems like, in the past, some university press would have stepped into the SPD void... and they could write grants to do so. But university presses are under just as much threat as small presses now. Which says something about the state of publishing... and ideas.

It seems like now, so near the release of her new album with poet in the title, Taylor Swift could very easily save poetry small presses. It’d be a great marketing move #JustSayin #torturedpoets

The small press community in the US and Canada is amazing.

We started Bull City Press 🐂 in 2006 with a long-arm stapler and $300. Yesterday's SPD shutdown news had me despondent. Today finds me ready for the new challenge. We're gonna keep making books.

SPD shutting down and essentially telling us we won't get paid for books they sold and that we'll probably have to pay to have remaining stock returned from Ingram while shopping for a new distributor... well, that certainly is a dagger in the heart of one small business...
