Yesterday, USAID Administrator Samantha Power Met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and 'discussed tackling lead exposure as an outsized development opportunity for an issue that affects one in two children in [LMICs] and kills 1.6 million people each year.'

10 years ago, during the Flint crisis, 1 in 20 kids had elevated levels of lead in their blood. 

Today, in lower and middle income countries, that number is closer to 1 in 2 kids.

USAID is working to stop lead from robbing the next generation of their potential. Hear more:

Today, Pure Earth published a peer-reviewed manuscript describing the findings of its 25-country Rapid Market Screening program to identify lead concentrations in 5K consumer products. Read the paper here:
