While Eid is usually a time to celebrate, this year is hardly celebratory as the genocide in Gaza enters its 7th month.

We continue to demand a permanent ceasefire and reaffirm our solidarity with Palestine. There is no better way to celebrate than with peace and liberation.

They say that tomorrow is Eid, summer is gone, winter has arrived, then New Year, then summer again, Ramadan and Eid, and I stumble every day in a whole world designed from my nightmares.

There are a thousand soldiers and a thousand shells between me and my home.

Despite my deep gratitude to the judges who believed in my book, BIANCA, I have withdrawn from consideration for the 2024 PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry. I made this choice in keeping with the boycott sustained against @penamerica, and in solidarity with Palestine. 🧵
