Spring Vetch recorded from a single anthill at Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe NNR yesterday, growing with Early Forget-me-not and Field Mouse-ear. Last recorded from the reserve in 1999 and the only post-2020 record for the Lincs coast

I found thousands of Cowslips at The Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs & Northants Southorpe Meadow late this afternoon, just in time for the #wildflowerhour #CowslipChallenge BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland
Highlight of my day on a visit to Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR was seeing several tiny emerging Moonwort, scarcely 2 cm tall. Must be at least 35 years since I last saw it in Derbyshire. Thanks to Chris Kirby-Lambert for finding the first one...

An excellent day at RSPB Frampton Marsh 🌍 with Chris Kirby-Lambert An aerobatic Black Tern, heaps of Sedge Warblers in full song, amorous Avocets and close views of the long-staying Lesser Yellowlegs by the car park. Distant Black-winged Stilt and Little Gulls too... perfect!

There really aren't many things that can beat a walk through the ancient woodlands west of Peterborough at this time of year. Photos taken at The Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs & Northants Old Sulehay Forest reserve.
Rust biodiversity in our wild garden. Plenty of Puccinia malvacearum, here shown on Musk Mallow but P. sessilis (new to garden) only found on one Lords-and-ladies plant and Uromyces ficariae only found on one tatty Lesser Celandine leaf

No birdsong, no water in the creek, no beating wings: how a haven for nature fell silent by Phoebe Weston.
Devastating ear-witness evidence of nature loss in California.

Bogbean is a species I rarely see - the only native population near Peterborough is inside the security fences of RAF Wittering.
This beauty was seen in Brandon Country Park lake, which also had two large Red-eared Terrapins!
Rather late for #wildflowerhour

Herb-paris looking good at The Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs & Northants Old Sulehay Forest this morning, benefiting from ride-edge management carried out last autumn. Known as the 'herb of equality' because all of its parts are considered equal and harmonious...
