Thank you to everyone who joined us outside Parliament on Monday.

More than 200,000 people signed Esther Rantzen's petition, triggering an emotional Westminster Hall debate where MPs from every major political party voiced their support for change.

The results are in: legislation has passed a stage-one vote. And it's a landslide. 123 votes in favour, one against, no abstentions.

Dignity in dying shouldn’t just be for the privileged few.

Assisted dying should be an option that terminally ill, mentally competent adults with 6 months or less to live should be able to make.

Suffering should not be inevitable. I personally believe we should have a choice ⬇️

“There is no doubt that the most powerful speakers with the most moving and persuasive arguments were the MPs who spoke about personal experience.” Dame Esther and her daughter Rebecca shared their verdict on the debate in today’s paper. express.co.uk/news/politics/…

The assisted dying debate gave Dame Esther Rantzen and her daughter Rebecca hope that “compassionate common sense could prevail and a change in the law might come about” thanks to the 200,000 who backed a Daily Express Dignity in Dying petition.

We need more funding for palliative care but even best care can’t help everyone. So we also need a strictly safeguarded law on to give dying people choice in their last days. The Green Party manifesto will back a change in the law - I hope other parties will too

I was honoured to stand with ⁦Dignity in Dying⁩ outside Parliament today to tell MPs about the urgent need for a more compassionate law on assisted dying

We all expect a quality of life. Let’s also give everyone the right to a quality of death
