Shocked to see NYPD had plastered my neighborhood with “No sidewalk BBQs” signs. Reminded of a recent article on silence and “gentrification”.

Sidewalk BBQs are a staple of summer in Harlem and one of the main ways families, friends socialize and spend time together.

Many beginning #qualitative researchers are overly concerned that they are doing analysis 'wrong'. Here are some activities that can help people to think qualitatively & practice analysis in playful ways.
These and other techniques will be expanded in my 3rd edition qual book.

Psychiatry at its roots exists to pathologize common, sensible forms of human dissent to their own oppression and exploitation. The book Psychiatric Hegemony is a bit dense, but it gives great coverage to this idea. A more reader friend intro is Roy Grinker's Nobody's Normal.
