The level of openly proud hate against Muslims in the UK right now is shocking. Islamophobia is so mainstream, so applauded and encouraged it turns my stomach. Love to all Muslim friends and followers, I’m sorry you’re being subjected to this hate.

For the final piece in my The Guardian flooding series, I wrote about Tapton Terrace, a grandmother who lived there her whole life, and the home she died in during storm Babet. These stories will sadly become more common in an era of climate emergency theguardian.com/environment/20…

I would love to hear about your most expensive recent coffee purchases. Did it break the £5 barrier? Did you get latte art for that? UK only please!

The New York Times has literally lost its mind. HIS life was ruined? It is UNIVERALLY acknowledged that he murdered two people with a knife and basically beheaded his ex-wife. I simply can't believe I'm reading this.

'While much has changed in the past six months, the horrors we witness can only be truly comprehended as a cataclysmic new phase in a war that has been going on for several generations.'

🚨i am being made redundant, alongside many of my amazing colleagues at openDemocracy

it is a sad day for radical, not-for-profit media (but also this seems strangely inevitable in this industry)

here are some pieces i'm proud of:

For the second piece in my Guardian G2 flooding series I went to Germany, where entire houses were washed away with the inhabitants still in them, and still people rebuild exactly as before, close to the river that killed their friends and neighbours

I'm starting to commission for Issue 20 in the summer. A fair few of The Fence's most impactful pieces came from in-person meetings, so if you'd like to have a coffee in Soho and chat through some ideas, please email [email protected]. First-time great writers v. welcome.

“Some had their disability aids removed by photographers. Other children have been altered with editing software or banned from their class photos entirely.”

I expose how the “erased disabled kids” scandal was not a one-off - and what it says about us. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

This piece is heartbreaking, terrifying and inspiring – and, of course, beautifully reported by Sirin Kale.

The climate crisis is already here in Europe. @Sirin_kale tells the story of Rosa Reichel, who died at just 15 in Belgium.

'The fields flooded with a terrifying rush of water. Rosa was dragged away. She slipped out of my hands.''

A heartbreaking piece.

People think the climate emergency will happen years away, in the global south, but it's already happening, here, in Europe, with devastating floods. For my new The Guardian series, I went to Belgium to tell the story of Rosa Reichel, who died at just 15 theguardian.com/environment/20…

Calling for the Israeli govt to investigate is farcical and clinging on to the notion, long eroded, that it still abides by any standards- it has gone rogue and is making clowns of these political leaders.

I campaigned for Labour in the last two elections. Door knocking, volunteering in head office, etc. This video and Keir's LBC interview is the reason I can't vote for the party any more. Incredibly ashamed of what they've become.
