Another good EEB at MSU birding event! It's always great to see old friends and meet new colleagues while looking for birds. Behind us in this photo was an active Great Blue Heron rookery, which is a cool find at MSU's Inland Lakes.

Check out our new piece on the history of statistical ecology and the role that Ecology has played

This was a fun (and challenging!) paper to write - we learned a lot!

It's season! The Michigan State Bird Observatory's crew favorite today was this adult male Cape May Warbler.

They can be ID'ed by the chestnut cheek patch and yellow collar. Black streaks on the breast and down the flanks are another giveaway.

Using data from 2,655 farms across 11 countries, we show that agricultural diversification benefits both the environment and people. This was a massive team effort. Thanks to I Grass Claire Kremen Olivia Smith Zia Mehrabi and many others. European Research Council (ERC) science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
