The lack of gold open access offerings by US university presses is actually a good thing as it allows you to negotiate green (repository) access as part of your book contract. I have advised plenty of academics on this and it's almost always fine with the publisher.

I along with others human-moderate SocArXiv. Not saying we have caught all AI-generated documents but we are watching out for them. It has become something of a burden to try to catch the fake papers and the inflated reference lists.

If you want something done open, open it yourself. 😊
