October 12th, 1955 Chrysler introduced hi-fi record players mounted under the dashboard in their 1956 models. 7' vinyl discs spun at 16 2/3 RPM. In advertising copy, Chrysler touted that the discs would never skip, not even during sharp turns or while crossing railroad tracks.
