We must think critically about media reporting on nuanced and complex issues.

Don't be sold a story.

'Hanford’s conclusion is that there is one way to teach reading that works for all students. This conclusion is unsubstantiated and not based on current research.'

This is a great example of how translanguaging can help MLLs to make connections and develop all areas of English & L1 language development! 🤗

I’m trying to walk a line of sharing the realities of the classroom while also respecting students with a variety of needs and their caring adults. I want Stephen Lecce to see newcomer refugee students with trauma who are melting down now that he’s taken away their ESL support.

I will definitely be assigning this series as assignments in the phonics class I teach. So important for future Tchrs to understand the history & wide body of research in literacy. Simply following a narrow and reductive program is bad practice. Dr. Sam Bommarito

Language is rootED to identity. If we don’t include our students first languages into daily learning, we may be severing their greatest human capital. The gift of bilingualism/multilingualism.
