Our CEO, Dr Jan Sheldon, spoke about St Martins at the April meeting of the Wroxham branch of the University of the Third Age.

There was lots of interest in our charity and Jan went away with an amazing donation of toiletries to give to the people who use our services 🧼🧴🧽

We value our #volunteers at St Martins. We had a great session this morning for some of our volunteers thinking about the language we use, professional boundaries and how they establish positive relationships with the people we support.

The Hackney and Norwich Q&As will be introduced by Parveen Bird, the Chair of the Big Issue Invest Trust.

📉 Norwich rough sleeping numbers have fallen in Norwich for the third year in a row - despite a national increase of 27%.

This is positive news. But any one person having to sleep on the streets is one too many.

Homelessness is not a crime. ❌

Their proposed Criminal Justice Bill mean people who are rough sleeping could face fines up to £2,500 for so-called ‘nuisance’ #roughsleeping .

We shouldn’t be punishing people on the street but connecting them to the right support.

It’s not always obvious if someone is struggling with their mental health.
Be kind - you never know what’s going on in someone’s life.

Thank you to Enactus Society at UEA who are making soap and hosting workshops to raise funds for YMCA Norfolk and St Martins Housing Trust 🌟

They'll be using all profits to buy toiletry kits to support young people experiencing homelessness.

Homelessness is not a choice.

Allowing people to sleep rough is a political choice.

Labour-run Norwich City Council have worked with local charities to decrease rough sleeping numbers for a third consecutive year.

A remarkable achievement which shows the solutions to end homelessness are at our fingertips.

Kieran explained that moving into St Martins House at the end of December was 'like a Christmas present.'

This snapshot is brilliant news and the result of partnership working, effective commissioning and local support. 5 people is still 5 too many but unlike the national stats, the Norwich stats are heading in the right direction. Team work 👍🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
