#onthisday 1795 the Lynn Petty Session agreed to raise nine men to serve in his Majesty’s navy. Each man was to be offered a bounty of Twenty Guineas on entry and enrolment Norfolk Record Office
The committee on street names reported back to the paving commissioners. They returned with three pages of name changes to local streets. Some are giving names to unnamed lanes while others change existing names, while some remain the same Norfolk Record Office

Queen Isabella sent a letter to John de Cokesford, Mayor of Lynn, asking for carpenters to be sent to her at Castle Rising. The letter is undated but it would be from either 1339, 1340 or 1346 as these were the years John was Mayor Norfolk Record Office
Plans for alterations to St James Cinema were submitted in 1933. They added a new entrance hall with two dance halls on the upper floors. The plans were accepted but sadly it burnt down in Feb 1937 and was never replaced Norfolk Record Office
The Borough Archives will be closed on Saturday 4th November. We apologise for any inconvenience. Saturday 2nd December will be the next weekend opening Norfolk Record Office
Such a lovely morning with the children & staff from King’s Oak Academy. We hope they enjoyed it as much as we did, future budding artists amongst them!
