This harbour porpoise was found stranded yesterday at St Marys Bay, Kent and attended by HM Coastguard. Looked like possible #bycatch - we were in process of trying to recover, but the body has disappeared. If anyone knows more, please do let me know, we're keen to examine it!

A mass stranding of five sperm whales occurred within the Humber estuary last weekend- unfortunately all likely died and bodies are scattered around the estuary. Working with our partners in the region to try to #CSIOfTheSea examine any that are safe to access. More to follow...

On the way back to ZSL Science after recovery of a few strandings today- picked up a thin looking adult male common dolphin and a Kemp's ridley turtle from the Devon Wildlife Trust team and a Welsh stranded common dolphin from Matthew Westfield. #CSIOfTheSea examinations to follow soon

Really pleased to see this paper published by Marc Gose in Heredity- regional population genomic assessment of the white-beaked dolphin, which is potentially vulnerable to #climatechange driven impacts and other anthropogenic pressures.

Two harbour porpoises found stranded in Blackpool over the last week have been recovered to colleagues at University of Liverpool for necropsy through our #CSIOfTheSea collaboration with them. One with possible encircling netmark around the head, look forward to hearing more on what they learn!
