So very sad to hear this news. I just had the privilege of spending a month with my dear friend Don and his wife Joan on a trip togetherthrough the North West Passage. As @victorVescovo says he was an extraordinary explorer, oceanographer and human being. One of the greats…RIP.

You’ve heard about Antarctic sea ice lows - well, here’s the consequences.

Over 9,000 emperor penguin chicks from colonies in the Bellingshausen Sea are thought to have died in November 2022.

The sea ice they lived on broke up early, before they'd developed waterproof feathers.

in 1911, Wilson, Bowers and Cherry-Gerrard reached Cape Crozier on Ross Island during the 'Winter Journey', a component of Captain Scott’s British Antarctic 'Terra Nova' Expedition 1910-1913. The objective; to collect Emperor Penguin eggs for a case study!

En route to Montevideo after another spectacular voyage with @ponant on Le Commandant Charcot. An incredible sight as hundreds of common dolphins travelled alongside us. Stunningly beautiful.
