We are literally trapped.

The 'evacuation' of Rafah is illegal. There are no 'humanitarian' or 'safe zones.' Civilians are being forcibly displaced to areas totally unsuitable to human habitation. This is a crime against humanity.

Disgraceful how folks refuse justice for Palestinians by weaving shameful narratives that authorise & sustain imperial violence.

As Edward Said reminds: “Facts do not at all speak for themselves, but require a socially acceptable narrative to absorb, sustain and circulate them”

If anyone has earned the right to be called a scholar, it is this student. The determination to pursue his education, & the depth of perseverance amidst a genocide of his ppl that he successfully defended his thesis in a refugee camp is beyond admirable. Bless him & his profs.

One day after this, the Israeli Forces begin evacuation of civilians from Rafah

Sumi Madhok found the words I’ve been grasping for these last few days - it is unconscionable. As educators, we have a responsibility to look out for our students, an ethics of care.

Professor Steve Tamari is a historian of the early modern Middle East. He is a Palestinian Quaker from Jaffa and Little Rock. I look forward to a statement from the American Historical Association.

It’s unconscionable and unforgivable to set the police on your students.

It is to destroy the very idea of a university.

These are courageous students standing up against genocide; and for this, their university administrators have exposed them to cruelty, violence and harm.

Today locked out of offices. Not just a place of work but the place we define by our teaching and research without which it is literally nothing more than a bunch of badly managed assets and a hospital.
