Between the unsettled weather recently, Sussex IFCA Officers have carried out patrols along the coast within our district. Conducting boardings & looking at species, volume + size of the landings, also making sure gear is marked correctly and methods being used are compliant.

Over the last quarter, the team and I have recovered numerous harbour porpoises found stranded along the Sussex coast for #CSIOfTheSea examination- all have had pathology consistent with attack by one or more bottlenose dolphins.
Today marks the end of the Wild Coast Sussex Project, which Sussex IFCA has been able to work in close partnership with over the past few years. We thank the The National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery players for the ongoing support of the Wild Coast Sussex Project.

Last week, officers joined students from the University of Brighton in their rocky shore practical survey. Comparing the biodiversity in quadrats across the upper, mid, and lower zones of the intertidal area. The site surveyed lies within Beachy Head West Marine Conservation Zone.
The Sussex Kelp Recovery Project Recovery Project is a pioneering marine rewilding project, the aim of which is to recover almost 200 square kilometres of lost kelp forest along the coast of Sussex. sussexkelp.org.uk
