About 0.25% of US cases are sequenced (covidcg.org/?tab=global_se…), so even if we optimistically assume 50% of local infections are being detected as cases, a single report of B.1.1.7 would imply around 800 (95% CI: 50–3500) B.1.1.7 infections already. theguardian.com/world/2020/dec…

This looks to be the first experimental evidence that the deletion found in the UK variant impacts infection of SARS-CoV-2. (similar to what has been shown for the well known D614G mutant)
