When making up these acid free book jackets to help protect some of our older and more delicate items we end up with lots of off cuts. We turn these into bookmarks and shelf markers for use with other items on our shelves.

For #ArchiveSustainability we want to talk lights! #DidYouKnow we have automatic LED lights in most of our strongrooms and corridors? This means if no-one is there, no lights are on - and if they are, they are energy saving LEDs that reduce the heat around the documents!

Sustainable design aims to create long-term solutions that benefit both society and the environment. 🌳🌎

Designers can reduce waste and emissions by creating products and processes that are recyclable, compostable or reusable. ♻️🚯🌱

Archivists often get 'just digitize it all!'. Digital files don't magically stay safe and accessible; part of #ArchiveSustainability is planning for digital preservation - keeping multiple copies of files, migrating to new formats, making file available, etc. #Archive30

Our new mobile shelving not only helps us optimize our space but also manage long term preservation of our artefacts. We are actively seeking to establish the most sustainable conditions for our vast collections both in our museum and archives. #Archive30 #ArchiveSustainability
