During #WW2 , the British Army formed 17 parachute & 8 airlanding battalions. In 1945 The Black Watch's 2nd Battalion joined as an airlanding unit. Captain Berry (far right) wears their iconic #RedHackle . They trained in Bilaspur, India & Rawalpindi.

The Royal Regiment of Scotland has launched its Regimental Induction Cadre for newly trained soldiers. 9 soldiers accompanied by a corporal were hosted by the Regimental Secretary, Tim Carmichael, to a tour of the museum & lunch in the Waterloo Room.

This certificate, signed by none other than King Neptune, was awarded to The Black Watch soldier Kenneth Robert Gundlach as part of a ‘line-crossing ceremony’ – an initiation rite for sailors crossing the equator for the first time.

This is a photo of Company Sergeant Major George Miller, late 2nd Battalion, attached 8th Battalion, Black Watch. Miller has been photographed in military dress uniform holding a broadsword. He died whilst on sick leave on 16th March 1915.
