Did you know that Mount Prospect Park used to be a reservoir? Built in 1856, it held 20 million gallons of water supplied to the western part of Brooklyn. The reservoir was replaced by Mount Prospect Park in 1939.

This carved wood belonged to Brooklynite Henry Bell (1898-1981). Henry had owned this bit of wood since he was 12 years old, salvaged from the 'Washington Willow tree' that stood on the corner of Third Street and Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn. bklynlib.org/3WIsPVA
