My favorite piece of advice is to get to know yourself the best, believe in yourself, feel that you deserve to belong, and become the best YOU, you can be.

A2: Often it can be difficult to make time for mentoring fellow teachers because our main responsibilities lie with the students we teach, not the adults we work with. Mentoring often requires collaboration after building hours, which is tough to fit in.

A3: We can better support the creation and support for HOPEful mentoring by making co-teaching among content related teachers more common place. Having a veteran and beginner teacher teach w/ one another could be great for both teachers!

Q4: Some resources to allow for + relationship and mentor building are… FORMER MENTORS! New mentors should meet with their former mentor to review how to best serve their mentee, just like students go back to former teachers for tutoring or life advice.

Roman Nowak A veteran teacher seeing the actions of a younger teacher can remind them of some of the things they loved most about their profession when they first started, and also be food for great advice the next time they sit down and plan.

of course it's hard to make time for mentoring when there's already so much on educators' plates!! i know there are some places that offer stipends for mentoring, but not all, and i'm sure people are hesitant on more unpaid work

Hi, Gretchen from KY joining in. My best piece of advice is to believe in yourself, be yourself, don’t try and imitate and pretend to wear a mask to fit into different groups. Your uniqueness will shine through.

A3 HOPEful mentoring starts with good mentors. What's a good ? Someone who is a good listener, compassionate, wise, non-judgmental, and who allows their mentee to process their experiences so they can learn from them, not just tell them what to do.
