It was a pleasure to meet with students from my district Wednesday who were in Albany to press for legislation to help implement the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) and to ensure student access to age-appropriate sex education.

One in four Hudson Valley residents is considered energy-burdened. The NY HEAT Act is a climate AND affordability solution that will cap utility expenses to 6% of a family's income + align our utility laws with our CLCPA goals. It's time we pass it.

To meet our climate goals of the CLCPA, we need to pass the #NYHEAT Act now! We can no longer afford inaction. NY ratepayers need relief on their utility bills and we need to stop funding gas infrastructure!

It is unfortunate that it took obstreperous kids for the Chair of Environmental Conservation of Carl E. Heastie's anti-children, pro-oil-and-gas NY Assembly Majority to finally say a peep in tepid support of #NYHEAT , the most important climate bill after 2019's CLCPA.

As the air gets smokier & more New Yorkers get sicker, the NYS Legislature's failure to pass key climate legislation, including the Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act A5322-a/S4246-a that's recommended in the CLCPA scoping plan becomes more egregious.
