A great and thought provoking day at the @CLES Summit in Manchester today all about economies that generate good lives.
We’ll be putting this learning into action immediately #CWBSUMMIT
Excited to be chairing this session at #CWBSummit 2023 with (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies, exploring the failures of regeneration practice and development activity to date and the emerging progressive alternatives! 🏗️🛠️🌱
🌟 What an inspiring day at the (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies’s #CWBSummit on building community wealth. Really powerful insights in the discussions. Plus, loved co-leading the Ancoats walking tour with Ellie Radcliffe, exploring Manchester as a place in flux. #placemaking
Our Senior Researcher, Sean Benstead’s, key takeaway from our summit was despite the national economic and political context, people are still driven for progression.
What were your key takeaways from CLES’s Summit last week?
#CWBSummit
Interesting hearing about the high costs of housing in cities on the #CWBSummit - big contrast with former coalfield areas where some former pit areas have rows of empty houses.
Building community wealth and growing former coalfields can boost them and reduce the heat on cities
That's a wrap!
#CWBSummit is over for another year.
We've had a fantastic day discussing #CommunityWealthBuilding , the role of the private sector, and the relationship between local economies and the global economy.
It was great to hear everyone come together to come up
Up and running at the Community Wealth Building Summit with Development Trusts NI and (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies

What a great day #CWBSummit ! Connecting local & global, great speakers & facilitation and both practical + strategic thinking about making the cracks in the current system bigger for us to thrive alongside one another.
Our final reflection from our Summit last week comes from our CEO, Sarah Longlands; here is what she said… ⬇️
#CWBSummit
Great panel discussion in the Grow Your Own session at #CWBSummit - really agree with the sentiment from Gail about the biggest barrier to community wealth building in the public sector is in attitudes not the law.
Right-to-buy: is wrong. More needed to support people in places, including physical spaces - affordable work spaces are necessary #cwbsummit (CLES) Centre for Local Economic Strategies IPM
What a #CWBsummit . Finally got to put walking tours in a conference prog. Huge thanks to all the team, to Band on the Wall and Open Kitchen, but the BIGGEST thanks to Sarah Longlands and Tom Lloyd Goodwin for your support, encouragement and belief in me xxx
Really enjoying the breakout session on regeneration and wealth building
With the brilliant Sean Benstead in the chair.
