It was built in 1609 for local merchant Anton Burger, and today home to the best restaurant in town (ask for a table in the courtyard!). Definitely worth a detour if you’re in Alsace wine country 🍷

19 Apr 1916, military teacher & writer, Field Marshal Colmar von der Goltz (b.1843), known as Goltz Pasha, died. 1883-96, reorganized Ottoman Army. Served as C-in-C of Turkish forces versus British in Mesopotamia in #WW1 . 1915-16, successfully conducted siege of British at Kut.
