That's a wrap (almost) for #EIMR2024 ! What a week of oral presentations, posters and general discussions we've had. A huge thank you to all the delegates for their attendance and interaction. Lots of food for thought and we can't wait for #EIMR2026 !

I had a great time at my first in-person EIMR conference, which was packed full of great talks and even some skate egg hunting🪸

I was also able to present my current work from my PhD and was honoured to win best student presentation at the conference!

It was lovely to chat to everyone about J Stavenow Jerremalm and mine’s poster at the EIMR2024 conference today!

Day 2: EIMR2024 Interesting to hear about the different tools being developed to understand #ecosystem change. It seems it is time to address potential impacts on a cumulative scale as we need to provide data in short time frame to be useful during the consenting process.

I was delighted to chair the “Community Benefit” session EIMR2024 this morning covering marine cultural heritage, how to “land” benefits from #MRE , community wellbeing and dissemination of research findings internationally - lots of transferable lessons!

I had great fun leading a guided flapper skate egg case walk on Orkney at EIMR2024 - 15 people, 1 hour, many smiling faces, and 72 eggcases!

Danielle Orrell giving a very interesting talk at the EIMR2024 on her work on elasmobrachs in Irish waters conducted at Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences, UCC and the MaREI !

Final workshop of the conference, organised by Acadia University, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Queen's University Belfast 🎓 on modelling fish interactions with tidal turbines. A great way to round off the conference!

In two weeks’ time, from Monday the 15th-19th of April, we will be at the Environmental Interactions of Marine Renewables 2024 Conference, joining marine renewable energy experts from across the globe. 🌐

Wind turbines can attract certain demersal fish and flatfish. Effects could be site specific or related to turbine structure design. More #funding needed to collect/ incorporate data on natural seasonal variation in fish abundances.

An amazing and thought provoking conference EIMR2024 . Met so many great people, participated in my first Ceilidh ＦΛＲΛ, and got to talk about the importance of seabed ecosystems and how best to monitor them. Goodbye Orkney, I can’t wait to come back!
